The Farm
Big Tuffy Farms
Located in Cane Ridge, Tennessee, Big Tuffy Farms is a small, local farm raising purebred Mangalitsa and Mangalitsa/Hampshire crossbred hogs. The hogs are free to roam and forage on the property. Bred on our own farm, we believe in the importance of letting our pigs be pigs.
The farm provides ethically and humanely raised hogs, for a fair price, for your personal use. We provide you with your hog, you provide its purpose. Whether it be to start a herd of your own or to have it harvested for personal consumption. Click here to select and reserve your hog today!
Our Farm Personalities
Blondie
The first of Big Tuffy Farms’ three breeding sows, Blondie is a Mangalitsa mom at heart. Blondie is a protective mother of her piglets; nurturing, feeding, and protecting them from potential threats. You can find her herding and feeding her young.
Piggie
Shirley, another Mangalitsa breeding sow, is always excited to greet people. Eager for attention, you can find her following us around the pasture longing for a back scratch and attention.
Big Mama
The third breeding sow, Big Mama, is a Hampshire sweetheart. Big Mama is very docile, likes a shower from the hose and to be scratched. She is a big fat pig.
Her piglets are crossbred with “Champ”, our Mangalitsa boar. Her piglets will have the dominant Hampshire “belted” markings. The meat harvested from this crossbred pair has been excellent. You get some marbling of the meat, yet more lean than the Mangalitsa.
Champ
Champ is Big Tuffy Farms’ Mangalitsa Swallow Belly boar. An old soul at heart, Champ can be found napping under the comfort of large, mature oak trees. Champ is a very nice pig. He will quietly approach you wanting his head scratched. He is separated from the herd and has a nice area to live. He gets to interact with the other pigs throughout the day, as they make their way about the farm.
