Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Dating back to the 1830s, the Mangalitsa Pig is one of the oldest pig breeds in Europe. Resembling a sheep, this curly-haired Hungarian native is known for its high fat content, labeling its meat as a delicacy. “Mangalitsa” actually means “hog with a lot of lard”, and the meat is so delicious that it almost caused the breed to go extinct in the 1990s.

One of the fattiest pig breeds in the world, 60%-70% of the Mangalitsa’s body weight accounts for fat leaving only 30%-40% accounting for lean meat. In comparison, most pig breeds only contain approximately 50% fat.

The Mangalitsa’s highly marbled meat melts in your mouth with a flavor and texture unique to the breed. Other than fantastic flavor, the meat contains health benefits including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamin D, omega-9, and monounsaturated fat, and can be used for both cooking and baking.
