Big Tuffy Farms provides ethically and humanely raised Mangalitsa and Mangalitsa/Hampshire Crossbred hogs. The farm allows pigs to be pigs, where they can forage in grass pastures and mature trees of oaks, hickories and persimmons. What’s a Mangalitsa?
A curly-haired Hungarian native, the Mangalitsa Pig is one of the oldest pig breeds in Europe. Only 30%-40% of the Mangalitsa’s body weight consists of lean meat, labeling its highly marbled meat as a delicacy. Along with premium taste, the meat contains health benefits and can be used for both cooking and baking.
Pricing
Live hogs can be purchased in quarter, half, or whole quantities, and are priced on a per pound basis according to the Mangalitsa’s live weight before harvest. Purchasing a hog could be ideal for a special event, to split among a group of friends or families, or for storage for continual consumption.
